There are certain characteristics for people's heads, and a general range of head circumference for different age groups. The most common sizes are: S/M (54-57 cm), M/L (57-60 cm) and XL (60-63 cm).
But what about people with very large or very small heads? How do you choose the right helmet for you? Will it be easy to find the right helmet?
If you have a very large head, finding a suitable helmet can be a challenge. If the helmet is smaller than your head, it will look like it's perched on top of your head, offering no side protection. Here are some options.
First, you can remove the adjustment pads at the top to allow the helmet to slide further down. You can also use a larger helmet with more head room by placing thicker fit pads on the sides. With luck, you might be able to find a helmet with additional side protection.
On the other hand, if your head is very small, finding a helmet that fits you can also be tricky. Here are some suggestions.
For a smaller head, you can use a well-fitting children's helmet. All of these helmets meet the same impact standard.
How to make a smaller hull?
First, combine it with thicker pads on the inside. This not only reduces the space, but also makes it softer and more comfortable. They do not detract from the helmet's protection, as long as they support it well. Second, adjust the rear adjuster as best you can to keep the helmet stable on your head.
Finally, adjust the straps for maximum stability and to keep the helmet level on your head without over-tightening for comfort.
Be prepared for the helmet to look like a mushroom. The best thing to do is to order a helmet that fits your head size. At Falcon Polo we have models with a size adjuster and models that are custom made. In general, the most problematic are the large helmets (60-63 cm), as they are difficult to adjust and maintain the desired style.
